About me

My name is Gastón Márquez. I’m Ph.D. in Informatics Engineering. I belong to the Toeska Research Group, and my advisor is Ph.D. Hernan Astudillo.

I obtained my Informatics Engineering degree and my MSc. in Computer Science at Bio-Bio University, Chile. My current research areas are software engineering, software architecture, microservices architectures, clinical software development, and telehealth systems.

Before starting my academic journey, I worked in companies like Bluebyte Technologies and Evalueserve. These companies taught me professional skills and new IT challenges that inspire me to decide to become a Ph.D.

My principal hobby is traveling with my wife. We have visited the following countries (so far)

  • Argentina
  • Canada
  • Colombia
  • Cuba
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • The Netherlands
  • Turkey
  • USA

Also, I love to play with my dog Tomas, visit friends and family, watch football soccer, and running (lately, running has become one of my favorite activities).
